Nancy Collet’s experience in the film industry spans over twenty years. With her extensive knowledge of working with studios and film festivals, she founded Cinema Collet in 2007. Her company offers strategic consulting services to large conferences, film festivals, educators, distributors and independent filmmakers around the world. Her clients include The Wrap News, Inc., Ketchum, Inc., NuvoTV, The Toronto International Film Festival, New York University, The Busan International Film Festival, The Baja International Film Festival, The Goteborg Film Festival, The Aruba Film Festival, The Abu Dhabi Film Festival, Heartland Truly Moving Pictures, The Whistler Film Festival, The La Costa Film Festival, The Gasparilla International Film Festival, The Loft Film Festival, Malibu Celebration of Film, New Filmmakers LA, Telefilm Canada, The American Film Festival in Poland, The Canadian Film Centre and Sharmill Films, Australia. Her services include event management, production and marketing, festival start-up, festival strategy, film programming, acquisitions, film lab bookings, VIP/Industry Procurement, marketing and PR.
Collet has regularly attended the major film festivals and markets around the world since 1997 and also served as a juror and panelist for numerous international film festivals and events, including the American Film Market, The Woodstock Film Festival, The Guadalajara International Film Festival, The HBO Aspen Comedy Arts Festival, The Bahamas Film Festival, The Cleveland International Film Festival, The Ashland Independent Film Festival and the Kansas City Film Festival.
From 1997 to 2007, Collet worked for the American Film Institute’s AFI FEST. She was promoted to Director of Programming in 2000 and produced seven editions in this capacity. Collet was responsible for selecting all of the films in the Festival and putting together a strong and varied program. Each year, Collet and her staff screened more than 3,500 submissions and put together a slate of 150 films representing 45 countries. During her time at AFI FEST, she secured the premieres of dozens of Academy Award winning films. She also helped the festival to more than triple in size and firmly establish itself as a world-renowned international film festival. Collet supervised a large staff and oversaw production of the marketing, publicity, programming, scheduling, theater management and Industry programs at AFI FEST.
In 2002 Collet conceived and launched AFI at ArcLight, an accessible, year-round program of film series, retrospectives and exclusive advance screenings. The programs screen classic and contemporary cinema from around the world and give movie-lovers the opportunity to listen to and engage in thoughtful discussion with directors, actors and other film experts following the film. Some of the series she launched include: Directors Screenings, Uncensored Documentaries, Summer Music Docs, 100 years…100 Movies series, AFI Awards Screening Series and Latin Cinema Series.
Nancy is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and has a dual degree in Marketing and Psychology.
Nancy grew up in New York City and started her career in the mailroom at the William Morris Agency.
